Hi, I just bought and configured my first ERL but I can't seam to get dyndns to actually update my records.ERL is running Edge OS v1.7.0My internet connection is configured to use dhcp on eth1 and i configured dyndns on eth1 as well.We highly recommend using software clients since they tend to be more reliable than many of the update clients used in routers."I want to send updates myself via TSIG rather than install software." Many hardware devices, such as DVRs, webcams, routers, etc, have built in update clients. The update client periodically checks your network’s IP address; if it sees that your IP address has changed, it sends (updates) the new IP address to your hostname in your Dyn account. If you’re like many Dyn DNS customers, you have a dynamic IP address which changes periodically (monthly, weekly or even daily).I monitor 2 actiontec devices (different locations..different DYN host names - One is a Rev. I)I have the paid version of DYNDNS - not even sure if they have the free anymore Tonight I noticed that the DYNDNS is not updating in the Actiontec..I'm getting "Not Updated - No response from dyndns.org"My account is in good standing on DYNDNS, and I can even authenticate on another web device using both host names.
It has nothing to do with your account standing at dyndns. If the IP address passed to the system is not properly formed, it will be ignored and the system’s best guess will be used.An update client is a computer application or a feature in your router that keeps your hostname’s IP address up-to-date.Fragment base-64-authorization should be represented by Base 64 encoded username:password string. If this parameter is not specified, the best IP address the server can determine will be used (some proxy configurations pass the IP in a header, and that is detected by the server). And for the record, Dyn DNS dropped the free accounts entirely in the last two weeks or so.
